MERGE App
A web application supporting research data management and workflows, developed in collaboration with the MERGE FCT-funded project.
Overview
The MERGE App is a web-based playlist generation prototype using Music Emotion Recognition technology, developed as part of the MERGE FCT-funded research project. The prototype is currently in the second iteration of development, with a focus on implementing the ML model and integrating structure segmentation features.
Context
Music Emotion Recognition (MER) is an active research area with applications in music recommendation, therapy, and interactive systems. The MERGE project aims to advance this field by developing novel algorithms and tools. The MERGE App serves as a practical implementation of these research outputs, providing a platform for testing and demonstrating the developed technologies.
What was built
A web application prototype that generates music playlists based on emotional characteristics of songs, utilizing MER algorithms. The app includes features for user interaction, playlist customization, and integration of structure segmentation to enhance the recommendation process.
Lab connection
This project shows how DataLab contributes to externally funded research, offering practical development support while giving students the opportunity to work on real research-driven applications.
